The Beast and the Image of the Beast - Fulfilled in 1990
The Beast is almost invariably and incorrectly identified as the Antichrist, which will appear at the end, to rule the world and kill everyone who will not "worship him and his image and have his number written on his right hand or on his forehead".
But this beast and its "image" must not be confused with the Beast 666 They were all created at about the same time but, as you will see, these are two additional and completely different entities from 666 and all three have appeared, fulfilled their prophecies, and disappeared into obscurity 25 years ago!
Revelation 13 says:
1 And I saw a beast rising out of the sea, with ten horns and seven heads, with ten diadems upon its horns and a blasphemous name upon its heads.
2 And the beast that I saw was like a leopard, its feet were like a bear's, and its mouth was like a lion's mouth. And to it the dragon gave his power and his throne and great authority.
This “beast” must be the League of 7 Arab States, because it has the same description as the one which attacked Israel on the day after it was declared an independent state, except that it was then called a “dragon”. It now has 10 diadems instead of 7. In this case the 3 extra horns each have a “crown” for some reason.
For the moment, let us assume that the two beasts are the same and the 10 diadems are either a mistake in copying, or a point we have not yet understood. If the Beast with 7 heads is definitely the League of Arab States, then the continuing story should confirm that this is definitely the same beast.
What is it which gives power and authority to the Arab States? It is said to be "the Dragon". But what is the dragon?
The power and world authority of the Arab States in the league is dependent on their oil, so the dragon could well be oil. Otherwise it could be the Dragon referred to in the "War in Heaven" who fought with his angels against Michael and his angels. He was the leader of Iraq, a very powerful member of the league, identified as Saddam Hussein in the relevant chapter: War in Heaven.
But why would oil be referred to as "The Dragon" Is it because it powers the aircraft which would have appeared in the visions, where fire pours out of their engines on takeoff when the after-burners are in operation? Or could it be, even more bizarely, that a very large and powerful oil company, formed around this time in the area, was named "Dragon Oil"?
And what are the blasphemous names on the heads? I suspect it is a different name on each head and the names are those of the seven nations which comprise the league: Iraq, Egypt, Lebanon, Jordan Syria,Yemen, and Kuwait.
They are all Muslim countries whose people are "those who dwell on the earth" and "whose names are not written in the Book of Life"; blasphemous names in the eyes of the Jewish/Christian people who lived 2000 years ago!
Revelation 13 continues:
3 One of its heads (states) seemed to have a mortal wound, but its mortal wound was healed, and the whole earth followed the beast with wonder.
4.Men worshiped the dragon, for he had given his authority to the beast, and they worshiped the beast, saying, "Who is like the beast, and who can fight against it?"
In 1979, Egypt was suspended from the league because it had signed a peace treaty with Israel but it was re-admitted in 1990. The “head” which was “mortally wounded” would seem, then, to be Egypt which was one “head” of the seven-head alliance. The mortal wound was healed when it was re-elected in 1990.
This not only confirms the identity of the first beast, but also dates the prophecy to 1990 or later, after Egypt’s re-election to the League.
Revelation 13 continues:
5 And the beast was given a mouth uttering haughty and blasphemous words, and it was allowed to exercise authority for forty-two months; 6 it opened its mouth to utter blasphemies against God, blaspheming his name and his dwelling, that is, those who dwell in heaven.
7 Also it was allowed to make war on the saints and to conquer them. And all who dwell on earth will worship it, every one whose name has not been written before the foundation of the world in the book of life of the Lamb that was slain.
9 If any one has an ear, let him hear: 10 If any one is to be taken captive, to captivity he goes; if any one slays with the sword, with the sword must he be slain. Here is a call for the endurance and faith of the saints.
(11) Then I saw another beast which rose out of the earth; it had two horns like a lamb and it spoke like a dragon. 12 It exercises all the authority of the first beast in its presence, and makes the earth and its inhabitants worship the first beast, whose mortal wound was healed.
From later deductions, you will see that this second beast is The United Nations Security Council, which exercises the same degree of authority as the 1st beast, The League of Arab States. But exactly why does it, being normally on the opposite side to the first beast, make the earth worship the first beast? This will become clear shortly.
The reference to the two horns probably represents the two main countries leading the offensive against Iraq, The USA and the UK. In this case, the beast would be an “allied nations” beast, the United Nations Security Council.
(13) It works great signs, even making fire come down from heaven to earth in the sight of men; and by the signs which it is allowed to work in the presence of the beast, it deceives those who dwell on earth, bidding them make an Image for the beast which was wounded by the sword and yet lived;
This supports the assumptions so far. This beast, the UN, makes fire come down from heaven, which would be the aerial bombardment of Iraq in the Gulf War. It was in full “sight of the enemy”, the Arab League, without any apparent disagreement with them, the first beast (the Arab League).
Moreover the “allied beast”, which we have provisionally identified as the United Nations, even bids the Arab States to build an image of their own (resolution) and in so doing, “deceive those who dwell on the earth”.
Why would the UN encourage the Arab States to “build an image of their own beast”?
(15) and it was allowed to give breath to the image of the beast so that the image of the beast should even speak, and to cause those who would not worship the image of the beast to be slain.
This now begins to make sense. The Gulf War started when Iraq invaded Kuwait. The UN Security Council was not the only organization to issue a resolution calling on Iraq to withdraw its troops from Kuwait. The Arab League issued a similar resolution, (referred here to be creating an image of the beast) also calling on Iraq to withdraw from Kuwait which was one of the seven member states.
Effectively, both the UN and the Arab League were, for once, “batting” on the same side, against Iraq. So it was not just the UN causing the Iraqi troops to be slain for defying its own resolution but also for failing to comply with the “image” resolution.
The Arab league was in agreement with the UN, because Saddam Hussein refused both party’s orders to withdraw from Kuwait. Both organizations were therefore in agreement with the killing of any Iraqi soldiers who did not “worship” (obey) the beast or the “image of the beast”.
This is why the UN was allowed to make “fire rain down in the presence of men” (presumably in sight of “those who dwell on the earth”) and allowed to work in the presence of the beast, because they both had the same goal, to drive Saddam Hussein out of Kuwait.
1) The second beast (with two horns- the UN) made “fire come down from heaven” which the allies under UN supervision in the Gulf War certainly did. Desert Shield, the aerial battle which was the precursor of the ground invasion of Iraq was one of the most intense aerial bombardments ever.
2) “It exercises all the authority of the first beast in its presence, and makes the earth and its inhabitants worship the first beast.”
The UN was equally as powerful as the Arab League, which also issued a resolution ordering Iraq out of Kuwait. So the UN was encouraging people to worship (obey) the image of the beast (The Resolution of The Arab League) because their aims were the same.
So the beast and its image were two separate beasts and different again from the Beast 666. It was true to say that whoever would not worship (OBEY) the beast or its image would be killed but the only punishment for not having the "mark of the Beast 666" was that you couldn't buy or sell anything in Iraq or Kuwait for the period of the Gulf War.
It is definitely not true, as is stated in Revelation, that anyone who "did not worship the beast or its image, or have his number written on his forehead or on his right hand should be killed." This must be an imbellishment by a translator who, like many so called Bible teachers today, manage to put their own incorrect interpretation on a quite clear passage of the scriptures!
