The Scarlet Woman Riding the Beast
The Scarlet Woman riding the Beast with Seven Heads, is sometimes interpreted as the Roman Catholic Church because scarlet and purple are the colours of the Papal garments! A bit much to attach a label "Mother of Harlots"!
The narrative starts at: Revelation Ch.17
1] And there came one of the seven angels which had the seven vials, and talked with me, saying unto me, Come hither; I will shew unto thee the judgment of the great whore that sitteth upon many waters: With whom the kings of the earth have committed fornication, and the inhabitants of the earth have been made drunk with the wine of her fornication.
So he carried me away in the spirit into the wilderness: and I saw a woman sit upon a scarlet coloured beast, full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns.
We have already identified the beast with 7 heads and ten horns as the Arab League, which has seven member states.
(4) And the woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet colour, and decked with gold and precious stones and pearls, having a golden cup in her hand full of abominations and filthiness of her fornication: And upon her forehead was a name written, MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH.
This seems to be fairly straightforward. We have identified Babylon as the city which stands for monetary greed and the worship of wealth and material possessions. It appears to be sitting on the League of Arab Nations, as if they are in partnership with “Babylon” and are worshipping wealth and material things.
The Arab world is rich because of its oil resources and this appears to link the two. However, from later descriptions this is not the case and we will have to revise our analysis in due course.
(6) And I saw the woman drunken with the blood of the saints, and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus: and when I saw her, I wondered with great admiration. And the angel said unto me, Wherefore didst thou marvel? I will tell thee the mystery of the woman, and of the beast that carrieth her, which hath the seven heads and ten horns.
(8)The beast that you saw was, and is not; and shall ascend out of the bottomless pit, and go into perdition: and they that dwell on the earth shall wonder, whose names were not written in the book of life from the foundation of the world, when they behold the beast that was, and is not, and yet is.
The angel’s explanation does not really help and why should it? The explanation must be someone’s interpretation, during the copying, or translation of the original book. The prophecies are not intended to be understood until they happen, so why would the angel explain it?
We know the identity of the beast with seven heads but now it seems that, at the time of this prophecy, it no longer exists, but will rise again.
(9) And here is the mind which hath wisdom. The seven heads are seven mountains (states), on which the woman sitteth. And there are seven kings: five are fallen, one is, and the other is not yet come; and when he cometh, he must continue a short space. And the beast that was, and is not, even he is the eighth, and is of the seven, and goeth into perdition.
We have already established that there are seven kings in the Arab League or maybe ten if we include the “satellite” countries. But it says here that five are “fallen”, or have ceased to be kings, “one is” (currently reigning) and one is “yet to come”. When he comes, he will only reign for a short time.
We are obviously now talking about different “kings” or “leaders” because if we count the individual kings or leaders of all seven states there have been many more than 6 in total and it seems obvious to which leaders Revelation is referring, if we look at the constitution of the Arab League.
The “beast,” which is the 7 states in the Arab League, has an overall “king” of the league, called a “Secretary General”, as well as having a king, or leader for each state. So here the focus has switched to the Secretaries General of The League, rather than the heads of the individual states.
How can we be certain of this? Because the details of past and present Secretaries General confirm that “5 have been, one is, and another yet to come” in the period in which the Gulf War took Place.
From 1945 to 2010 there were 6 Secretaries General of which (assuming the time of this prophecy is around 2001/2, 5 were “past”, one was (current) and “one was yet to come”.
The “one to come” condition was duly fulfilled when Nabil El Araby became the seventh Secretary General in 2011. If this prophecy is also to be fulfilled, he will be in the position for only a short time. We don’t know why but this will, presumably, become apparent in due course. This is the part of this prophecy which is NOT FULFILLED as yet.
I suspect that this final Secretary General may become redundant when Jesus returns, as will many other world leaders. It is currently said, in 2014, that the current Pope Francis, is "the last one" and even he has admitted recently that he "doesn't expect to be Pope for much longer! Perhaps he knows more about the Bible Prophecies than he cares to share with his flock!
The final piece is an enigma, and, as is always the case, there is no way of working out what it means until it happens. It says: And the beast that was, and is not, he is the eighth, and is of the seven, and goes into perdition.
(12) the ten horns which thou sawest are ten kings, which have received no kingdom as yet; but receive power as kings one hour with the beast. These have one mind, and shall give their power and strength unto the beast. These shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them: for he is Lord of lords, and King of kings: and they that are with him are called, and chosen, and faithful.
This seems to change the previous interpretation of the 10 horns from being the seven states and three sub states of Iraq, to being ten kings from outside the Arab League, who will join with the League, for a short while and will strengthen and give them extra power.
The Beast, presumably with the extra ten “kings”, will make war with “The Saints” but lose. Presumably, the beast “going into perdition” happens on this defeat and probably means the coalition breaks up and is no more.
(15) And he saith unto me, The waters which thou sawest, where the whore sitteth, are peoples, and multitudes, and nations, and tongues.
And the ten horns which thou sawest upon the beast, these shall hate the whore, and shall make her desolate and naked, and shall eat her flesh, and burn her with fire.
For God hath put in their hearts to fulfil his will; to agree, and give their kingdom unto the beast, until the words of God shall be fulfilled.
And the woman which thou sawest is that great city, which reigneth over the kings of the earth.
This now changes the identity of the whore on the beast from Babylon, to the “Great City which reigns over the Kings of the Earth”, which must be the most powerful nation on earth, the USA.
This now makes more sense when it says “the ten horns which you saw (Either the new partners of the Arab League or the original ten constituents) will hate the woman (the USA) and make her desolate and eat her flesh…It makes more sense than the Arabs, who are very rich, hating Babylon (money and wealth).
So the words on the whore’s forehead do not identify her as “Babylon” but show her to be the USA (that Great City) which is the MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH.
The USA (the mother of harlots, in the Arab view) is riding on the back of the Arab World (controlling or attempting to control it) and the leaders or kings of the Arab world hate the harlot, and will make her desolate.
This sounds like the previous claims about "making the USA desolate" which we decided was the attack and destruction of The World Trade Center in 2001
“The Lamb overcoming them” has already happened during the war on Iraq in 2003, the promised revenge by the USA, for the 911 attack.
So this prophecy has certainly been fulfilled, except that we have yet to witness the demise of Nabil El Araby, the last Secretary General of the League of Arab States, which will presumably coincide with, or follow shortly after, the arrival of The New Jerusalem.
Visit a very interesting site which lists 50 prophecies from the Bible, many from the Old Testament, which appear to confirm, that "Babylon" is in fact the USA rather than Iraq or, as some maintain, Rome.
Although I still maintain that Babylon (which has fallen) is more likely to be The World Trade Centre in New York, rather than America itself, because as of 2001, the WTC was certainly "fallen", whereas America, as of 2015, is not!
